Heads Up: EmberConf 2015 Announced!

EmberConf will once again be hosted in the fabulous Portland, OR, on March 3-4, with a training day on March 2nd. We'll be at the Oregon Convention Center, convenient to downtown, hotels and the Max. Additional details to be announced.

It's super early, but if you have advance 2015 thoughts, feel free to reach out to events@tilde.io.

That's a Wrap!

EmberConf was a smashing success, and we couldn't have done it without each and every one of you. Thanks so much for your support, your patronage, and your great attitude. Can't wait for EmberConf 2015!

Links to all 2014 slides and videos have been added to the Schedule Page.

We've organized two discounted trainings to run alongside EmberConf; these happen at the same time, mind you, so you can only take one or the other. Both classes will run Monday, March 24th, from 9:30am to ~4:30pm, with a midday break for lunch (included), and will be within walking distance of the conference hotel.

Advanced Ember: Persistence

Ember for Rails Devs

This course uses a hands-on approach to take you from acolyte to wizard in the ways of Ember.

We'll work together to build a small Ember persistence framework from the ground up. By the time you finish, you will be ready to integrate many different APIs with Ember in a pleasant and productive way.

Throughout, we will use a test-driven, interactive approach that gets your hands dirty with real code right away. We will provide failing tests and you will make them pass in order to complete each challenge.

Specific topics include:

  • Integrating with the Ember Router
  • Asynchronous requests without callback hell
  • Caching and Identity Maps
  • Streaming Data
  • Common Gotchas
  • Handling initialization and Testing

A more in depth description of this training class can be found here on the Tilde website. Purchase your tickets here at EmberConf.com to receive the $251 discount!

This training is geared towards developers with Rails experience interested in learning more about Ember. Topics include:

Introduction to higher JavaScript concepts:
  • ES6 modules
  • Promises

Introduction to Ember concepts:

  • Client side MVC concepts
  • Ember.Object
  • Ember concepts: Router, Routes, Models, Controllers, Components, Templates
  • Runloop

Introduction to Ember Appkit Rails:

  • How to generate a new Ember / Rails project
  • Directory structure
  • Generators
  • Testing

Finally, we'll build a simple Ember/Rails app together: a simple CRUD app, introducing concepts of fetching and persisting data via ember-data from Rails
